We are excited to announce our second Biennial Exhibition: an international open call group exhibition at The Ballinglen Museum of Art, Ballycastle, Co. Mayo, August 2025 - January 2026. Works for the group exhibition will be selected through this open submission portal. Entry is open to all visual artists worldwide working in paint, drawing, print, sculpture, and photography. It will be selected by a panel of three established artists: Mick O’Dea PPRHA, Artist and Ballinglen Arts Foundation board member, Artist Nona Hershey and Artist Erik Mattijssen. All decisions are final. Prizes will be awarded to exhibiting artists recognised for works of achievement. Please read all terms and conditions prior to entering.
This Biennial Exhibition marks a significant milestone in our mission to foster creative exchange and artistic innovation. By bringing together a diverse range of artistic voices, we aim to create a dynamic and thought-provoking exhibition that celebrates the richness and diversity of contemporary art.
For 33 years The Ballinglen Arts Foundation has provided residency awards to artists from Ireland and abroad to spend time working in rural west of Ireland which has benefited both the artists and the community.

General Information
The exhibition will be held at The Ballinglen Museum of Art, Main Street, Ballycastle, Co Mayo from Saturday August 30th, 2025 - Friday January 9th, 2026
Eligibility
Submissions of up to 3 works are invited from visual artists working in painting, drawing, print, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.
Submission Procedure
Submission is by online entry only. There is a link on our website to the call.
Guidelines for submitted works
All works must be professionally presented (needing no further work, additions or framing prior to exhibition). The entry form will include name of artist, date and place of birth and for each work, title, date, media, dimensions and selling price (as presented). The maximum dimensions of work accepted is 150X150cm (59x59"). The work must be created since 2019. It can have been exhibited previously.
Pricing
Work selected for exhibition will be expected to be for sale. Commission is charged by the Museum. It will be assumed that the sale price includes our commission. Please allow for this when pricing your work. A non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of 20% is required to secure a sale. Ballinglen will not be liable for any loss arising out of the failure by a purchaser to complete a sale or the mis-marking of any piece sold. 35% commission from the listed price will be deducted from all works sold during the exhibition. Artists will be paid after the close of the exhibition and only if Ballinglen has been fully paid by the buyer.
Communications
Any questions regarding the open call can be asked by email (ballinglenarts@gmail.com) before the deadline.
All communication will be by email or via the online login process. Applicants will be required to login to see if they have been preselected and will be asked to download and print their application details to be delivered with the artwork. Failure to do so could result in work being withdrawn from the exhibition.
Artists will NOT be contacted directly with the selection results. Applicants must login to OESS after 5pm on July 21st, 2025, to see if their work has been selected. The decision of the Selectors is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection of work for the exhibition.
Selection
The Selection Committee will select the works for the exhibition. The Selectors will consider all correctly completed submissions. The decision of the Selectors on all matters is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Ballinglen reserves the right to reject work that it believes is in breach of copyright laws.
Artists will NOT be contacted directly with the selection results. Artists must login to the entry system after 5pm on July 21st to find out If you have been selected for the exhibition.
Insurance
Artists are responsible for insuring their own work. All works accepted for exhibition will be transported entirely at the artists' risk. The Ballinglen Arts Foundation and Museum of Art will not accept liability for loss or damage occurring to the work during travel to or from the exhibition. Works are insured after delivery, unwrapping and when the condition is checked by Ballinglen.
Preparing work for delivery.
Each artwork must have a printout of the entry and the information printed and stuck on the back of the work. Please ensure that this information matches the information at the time to entry. It is important that all details are included as incomplete details will deem the entry inadmissible. All works will be checked on entry.
Work must be professionally presented for exhibition. All artworks must be presented with complete mechanisms for hanging. Exposed wet canvases or works that could cause damage to others will not be accepted under any circumstances. Work that arrives damaged or unfit for exhibition due to any material defect will be automatically deemed ineligible for exhibition.
Delivery and Collection
Selected artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their work to and from the Museum including all postal/shipping costs associated. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure that the work is correctly packaged as Ballinglen will not exhibit work damaged in transit.
If you are applying from overseas, please consider how you will get your work to the exhibition for August 18th and the associated costs of both sending and returning the work.
Note for work coming from outside the EU: Selected artists must ensure that the work reaches us before August 18th and is customs compliant. Ballinglen will not pay customs charges, duty or any associated charges on works arriving by courier/post. All work which is for sale will be liable for customs duty. Please talk with your shipper for details regarding customs and fees.
No work may be removed from the exhibition until after the close of the exhibition on January 9th 2026.
Unsold works must be collected between January 12th and February 1st, 2026. If you are unable to collect on these days, you may ask someone to collect on your behalf or make arrangements and a payment with us to post/ship your work. Works not collected by mid-February 2026 will be liable for a storage charge. Works not collected by end of February 2026 will be disposed of with no financial renumeration made by The Ballinglen Arts Foundation and Museum of Art.
Publicity
The artist allows Ballinglen to use images of any artwork for publicity and public engagement purposes. This includes television, print (newspapers, trade publications), website (Ballinglen and others), social media (Ballinglen and others) and any other method that Ballinglen deems fit for purpose.

By submitting to the exhibition you are deemed to accept and agree to the following:

The exhibition will be held at The Handbag Factory, Vauxhall, London, SE11 5RB, from 25th to 29th September 2025, featuring 80 selected participants (40 printmakers and 40 painters). The theme is Materiality.
We’ve created these Terms & Conditions to ensure a fair, transparent, and supportive experience for all artists involved. Whether this is your first group show or your fiftieth, we’re here to make the process as smooth as possible — from selection to sales, framing to delivery. *We welcome a wide range of techniques and materials within printmaking, painting, and mixed media practices. This can include — but is not limited to — concrete, sand, wood, paper, oil paint, acrylic, watercolour, pen, pencil, and all forms of printmaking.
At No Place Art, we take an open and inclusive view of materiality. For us, Materiality refers not only to the physical substances used in a work but also to the processes and intentions behind its making — whether conceptual or physical.
A panel of judges will select the artworks. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and feedback will not be provided.

Overview
Founded in 1879, the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts (RUA) is Northern Ireland's largest and longest-established body of practicing visual artists. One of its founding principles was to hold an annual exhibition featuring works from both members and non-members of merit. Now in its 144th year, this event remains a highlight of the Northern Irish arts calendar. The 144th Annual Exhibition will be held at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, from October 2025 to 6th January 2026
Eligibility
- Open to visual artists working in all mediums: painting, drawing, original prints, photography, video, textiles, ceramics, sculpture.
- Artists must be over 18 years old.
- Work must have been created between 2023 and 2025.
- Work previously exhibited in Northern Ireland will not be accepted.
- All work must be for sale.
- The RUA reserves the right to reject work believed to be in breach of copyright.
Prints.
-Entries must be original works of art. Original prints, such as etchings, lithographs, screen prints, or other artist-created printmaking techniques, are admissible. Reproductions or copies of original artworks, including giclée prints or digital reproductions of paintings, drawings, or other media, are not permitted.

Submissions should be made online. All entries must be less than 2 meters in any direction, including the frame. There is no minimum size limit.
Sculptures outside these dimensions may be considered but could be restricted due to weight.

Delivery and Collection
- Artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their work. All packaging materials must be removed after delivery and brought back at collection. We do not have the facility to store packaging.
- Work not collected on designated days will be subject to a storage charge.
- **The RUA strongly advises against postal submissions and does not accept liability for damages to works during transit or while on the premises.
The RUA will not pack and label work for collection by couriers at the end of the exhibition.
If you do require work to be returned by post or courier we will arrange post and packing at a cost.
Agreement
By submitting work, artists agree to the following:
- The decision of the Selectors is final.
- The RUA reserves the right to amend exhibition arrangements and terms as necessary.
- Artists authorize the use of their images for promotional purposes.
- All information provided is true, and the work is the artist's original creation.

INSURANCE
Artists are responsible for insuring their own work. All works accepted for exhibition will be transported entirely at the artists' risk. RUA will not accept liability for loss or damage occurring during travel to the exhibition, the selection process or during the course of the exhibition. The upmost care will be taken of all works submitted for exhibition. The RUA will not be responsible for any damage, loss of or destruction of any works for any reason whatsoever. Artists should insure their works against all risks.

Image and video Submissions
- **Images:** JPG or PNG, max 5MB.
- Video Submission Guidelines: Submissions must be single-channel, no longer than 20 minutes, and provided via a URL (e.g., Vimeo or YouTube). Password-protected submissions must include the password. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure that all video works have appropriate copyright clearances for both music and visuals, permitting their display in a public space.
Pricing and Sales
- Selected work must be for sale. A 30% commission will be charged by the RUA, and VAT must be included if applicable. The minimum price of artwork is £200.
