About the Exhibition

No Place Art | Edition One: Materiality is an artist-led initiative to support emerging and mid-career artists. The exhibition will be held at The Handbag Factory, Vauxhall, London, SE11 5RB, from 25th to 29th September 2025, featuring 80 selected participants (40 printmakers and 40 painters). The theme is Materiality.

We’ve created these Terms & Conditions to ensure a fair, transparent, and supportive experience for all artists involved. Whether this is your first group show or your fiftieth, we’re here to make the process as smooth as possible — from selection to sales, framing to delivery. 1. Eligibility

• Open to artists aged 18 or over - worldwide.
• Artists may submit up to five works each. Up to five works per artist may be selected.
• Works must align with the theme Materiality, completed within the last three years.
• Acceptable mediums include printmaking, painting & mixed-media*.

*We welcome a wide range of techniques and materials within printmaking, painting, and mixed media practices. This can include — but is not limited to — concrete, sand, wood, paper, oil paint, acrylic, watercolour, pen, pencil, and all forms of printmaking.

At No Place Art, we take an open and inclusive view of materiality. For us, Materiality refers not only to the physical substances used in a work but also to the processes and intentions behind its making — whether conceptual or physical.

• Artworks must be of original creation by the submitting artist.
• Artworks should not exceed the size of 2m x 2m including the frame.
  
   

2. Submissions, Judges & Awards

• A non-refundable submission fee of £24 for the first artwork, £10 per additional work.
• For Artists 24 and Under a non-refundable submission fee of £16.00 for the first
• artwork, £10.00 per addition work.
• Up to 5 artworks may be submitted, but only 3 may be selected and exhibited.
• Digital submissions must include high-resolution JPEG images (Max 5MB) with
• file-names formatted as: NameSurname_TitleOfWork_Medium_Size_Date_Country.jpg.
• Works that do not match their submissions in condition or theme may be withdrawn at the discretion of the committee.
• All withdrawn works must be collected at the artist's expense
• If the selected works arrive damaged, with unacceptable framing, size discrepancies
• from the original submission, not as shown online, or in the opinion of the Selection Committee as not being in the spirit of printmaking or painting, or the theme Materiality, then these will be withdrawn. All withdrawn artworks will need to be collected from North London Framers by the artist at their expense. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and we are unable to offer feedback.
• Submissions will be accepted through the Olist Platform.

A panel of judges will select the artworks. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and feedback will not be provided.

3. Presentation & Framing Guidelines

• Printmaking artworks must be suitably presented and professionally framed
• Please note: While all works must be suitably framed, painters are not required to glaze their artworks with glass or perspex unless the work requires it for protection.
• Glazing is generally expected for printmakers and smaller, more delicate pieces.
• Painters don’t have to frame their artworks.
• Frames must not include metal or clip mechanisms. Glazing should be picture glass.
• Perspex is acceptable.
• Unframed prints will not be accepted or exhibited. Artists requiring framing support may contact North London Framers
• Received artworks must not have fixings attached. Hang It Services will install all required fixings
• Artists who choose to frame works independently must ensure frames meet these requirements. Non-compliant works may be rejected.
• North London Framing offers a 15% discount for selected artists. If artists would like framing provided by North London Framers, they must deliver their artwork to North London Framing before 20th August 2025
• Framing costs are the responsibility of the artist
  
   

4. Sales

• All artworks must be for sale.
• Artists set their own prices. The submitted price should include No Place Art’s 30% commission.
• If a sale is made through No Place Art (before or during the exhibition, including the time until the 16th October 2025), it takes precedence over any private sale.
• Private sales during this window will still incur the standard commission.
• Artists will receive 70% of the final sale price.
• Payments for sold artworks will be made within 30 days after the close of the exhibition.
• Artists are responsible for managing any applicable VAT or tax declarations.
• No minimum price is required, but pricing must reflect the artwork’s value and exhibition context.
  
   

5. Delivery & Collection

• A Welcome Pack will be issued to all selected artists on 20th July 2025, outlining next steps, key dates, the Artist Contract (which must be signed and returned), and information regarding delivery and collection options. This also allows us to work with each artist to identify the most suitable delivery route
   
• Regional Drop-off Points (UK-based artists): We are setting up regional drop-off locations in key UK cities. Artists will be informed of their nearest drop-off zone and a designated date in their Welcome Pack. From there, works will be transported to North London Framing by our courier partners
   
• Artists will be grouped regionally and assigned to drop-off points in major cities such as Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, or Brighton, depending on artist distribution
   
• Local Drop-off (London-based artists): Artists based in London and further afield, not requiring framing, may deliver their artwork directly to the exhibition venue — The Handbag Factory — before 13:00pm on 24th September 2025 (Installation Day). This must be pre-agreed with No Place Art and arranged in advance
   
• Selected works must be delivered to North London Framing (26 Theydon Rd, London E5 9NA) between 1st August and 10th September 2025 unless alternative delivery routes are confirmed (see above)
   
• Delivery and collection may be made by a representative or courier
   
• Artists are responsible for transportation costs to the initial drop-off points
   
• Collection must be arranged directly with North London Framers, who also offer
   
• return shipping. Artists may also request the artwork be returned without its frame to reduce shipping costs. Collection of artworks will take place between 16th of October and 16th of November, or on the day that the artworks are being taken down (30th September)
   
• Opening hours for North London Framers: Monday to Thursday, 9 am – 6 pm (Wednesdays until 5 pm)
   
• Works not collected from North London Framers by 16th November 2025 may be disposed of
   
• No Place Art accepts no liability for third-party courier services
  
   

6. International Shipping Details

For those shipping artworks from outside of the UK:

Picture Post Art arranges the shipping of work from the artist’s country to the UK. Furthermore they aim to assist artists to correctly fill out paperwork from customs, and store packaging for reuse if required.

7. Insurance & Liability

• Works are displayed at the artist’s risk. No Place Art accepts no liability for damage or loss
• Artists must sign a contract provided by No Place Art by 20th August 2025
• Failure to sign may result in exclusion from the exhibition
• Artists are strongly encouraged to insure their works.

8. Publicity

• By submitting, artists consent to the use of images for promotional purposes

• Artists retain all copyright and intellectual property rights

 

9. GDPR & Data Protection

• Personal data will be used only for exhibition management and communications

• Contact details may be shared with partners for the administration of awards and artworks

• Pre-Exhibition Q&A: We will host a virtual Q&A session for selected artists prior to the exhibition to go over logistics, expectations, and answer questions.

• Community & Transport Support: An optional WhatsApp group will be created for selected artists to coordinate courier options, share transport, and connect with fellow exhibitors.

Agreement
By submitting to the exhibition you are deemed to accept and agree to the following:
The decision of the Judges on all matters Is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
I understand that The Organisers reserves the right to make such changes to the exhibition arrangements and these Terms & Conditions as may be deemed necessary by circumstances.
I authorise The Organisers To process, store, and utilise the data in my submission and agree that, if selected for exhibition, images of my work can be freely used by The Organisers, The Gallery and associated organisations for promotional and publicity purposes.
All information provided by me is true and accurate and that the work submitted is wholly of my own creation.
I have read and understood these terms and conditions and by submitting this application I accept and agree to observe all the Terms And Conditions therein.

General Information
The exhibition will be held at The Ballinglen Museum of Art, Main Street, Ballycastle, Co Mayo from Saturday August 30th, 2025 - Friday January 9th, 2026

Eligibility
Submissions of up to 3 works are invited from visual artists working in painting, drawing, print, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.

Submission Procedure
Submission is by online entry only. There is a link on our website to the call.

Guidelines for submitted works
All works must be professionally presented (needing no further work, additions or framing prior to exhibition). The entry form will include name of artist, date and place of birth and for each work, title, date, media, dimensions and selling price (as presented). The maximum dimensions of work accepted is 150X150cm (59x59"). The work must be created since 2019. It can have been exhibited previously.

Pricing
Work selected for exhibition will be expected to be for sale. Commission is charged by the Museum. It will be assumed that the sale price includes our commission. Please allow for this when pricing your work. A non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of 20% is required to secure a sale. Ballinglen will not be liable for any loss arising out of the failure by a purchaser to complete a sale or the mis-marking of any piece sold. 35% commission from the listed price will be deducted from all works sold during the exhibition. Artists will be paid after the close of the exhibition and only if Ballinglen has been fully paid by the buyer.

Communications
Any questions regarding the open call can be asked by email (ballinglenarts@gmail.com) before the deadline. 

All communication will be by email or via the online login process. Applicants will be required to login to see if they have been preselected and will be asked to download and print their application details to be delivered with the artwork. Failure to do so could result in work being withdrawn from the exhibition.

Artists will NOT be contacted directly with the selection results. Applicants must login to OESS after 5pm on July 21st, 2025, to see if their work has been selected. The decision of the Selectors is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection of work for the exhibition.

Selection
The Selection Committee will select the works for the exhibition. The Selectors will consider all correctly completed submissions. The decision of the Selectors on all matters is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Ballinglen reserves the right to reject work that it believes is in breach of copyright laws.

Artists will NOT be contacted directly with the selection results. Artists must login to the entry system after 5pm on July 21st to find out If you have been selected for the exhibition.

Insurance
Artists are responsible for insuring their own work. All works accepted for exhibition will be transported entirely at the artists' risk. The Ballinglen Arts Foundation and Museum of Art will not accept liability for loss or damage occurring to the work during travel to or from the exhibition. Works are insured after delivery, unwrapping and when the condition is checked by Ballinglen.

Preparing work for delivery.

Each artwork must have a printout of the entry and the information printed and stuck on the back of the work. Please ensure that this information matches the information at the time to entry. It is important that all details are included as incomplete details will deem the entry inadmissible.  All works will be checked on entry.

Work must be professionally presented for exhibition.  All artworks must be presented with complete mechanisms for hanging.  Exposed wet canvases or works that could cause damage to others will not be accepted under any circumstances. Work that arrives damaged or unfit for exhibition due to any material defect will be automatically deemed ineligible for exhibition.

Delivery and Collection
Selected artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their work to and from the Museum including all postal/shipping costs associated. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure that the work is correctly packaged as Ballinglen will not exhibit work damaged in transit.

If you are applying from overseas, please consider how you will get your work to the exhibition for August 18th and the associated costs of both sending and returning the work.

Note for work coming from outside the EU: Selected artists must ensure that the work reaches us before August 18th and is customs compliant. Ballinglen will not pay customs charges, duty or any associated charges on works arriving by courier/post. All work which is for sale will be liable for customs duty. Please talk with your shipper for details regarding customs and fees.

No work may be removed from the exhibition until after the close of the exhibition on January 9th 2026.

Unsold works must be collected between January 12th and February 1st, 2026. If you are unable to collect on these days, you may ask someone to collect on your behalf or make arrangements and a payment with us to post/ship your work. Works not collected by mid-February 2026 will be liable for a storage charge. Works not collected by end of February 2026 will be disposed of with no financial renumeration made by The Ballinglen Arts Foundation and Museum of Art.

Publicity
The artist allows Ballinglen to use images of any artwork for publicity and public engagement purposes. This includes television, print (newspapers, trade publications), website (Ballinglen and others), social media (Ballinglen and others) and any other method that Ballinglen deems fit for purpose.

Agreement
By submitting to the exhibition you are deemed to accept and agree to the following:
